Developed during an unexpected four-month lockdown in the Tirthan Valley, “Dishing Out” adapted to a total shortage of art supplies, the series utilizes found local slate and domestic ceramic plates as its primary surfaces. Born out of hours spent meditating by mountain streams, the work explores the friction between deep ecological reverence and human consumerism. Forced to adapt, these works contrast a deep, protective connection to nature with a sarcastic critique of the greed and ecological destruction facing the Himalaya. The title directly references how modern society treats these ancient, fragile landscapes as mere commodities to be sliced up and served to the public.
